J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of Gujjar and Bakerwal

In order to have focused attention towards the Development of Gujjar Bakerwal Community, State Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjar Bakerwal has been constituted in the year 1974 by Government order No. 23-PS of 1974 dated 18.03.1974. The main objective of this Board is to identify the factors which are responsible for the Socio-economic backwardness of Gujjar Bakerwal community and simultaneously advice suitable measures and economic interventions for rapid socio-economic development of Gujjar & Bakerwal community.

DETAILS OF SCHEMES BEING IMPLEMENTED UNDER GUJJAR AND BAKERWAL SUB PLAN

State Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjar Bakerwal implements the following major schemes under Sub Plan:-
a. Management of Boys/Girls Hostels.
b. Development of Gojri language/culture.

a. Management of Boys/Girls Hostels

Presently 17 Boys and 06 Girls hostels are being managed by this Board with a intake capacity of 2125 inmates. The hostel inmates are being provided free Boarding, Lodging, Diet, Uniform, Bedding, Soap, clothing, Books, Sports material etc. For the details click here.

Hostel facilities The Government is running hostels for students belonging to the ST population at various locations in the State. These hostels have been constructed with the assistance from GOI on sharing basis. Inmates are provided free boarding and lodging and coaching facilities.
There are 23 (17 boys & 6 girls) hostels for G&B students running in the State. besides, four ST hostels are under construction in the State. further, one more hostel for Gaddi Sippi students have been constructed at Udhampur.
